verb, continuous coined here
MAY·ber·ing
Actively dwelling in the maybe state: not deciding, and not exactly failing to decide either, but occupying the undecided state as an activity in its own right.
“Still deciding on the job offer?” “Yeah, I'm maybering.”
Etymologymayber + -ing. Built off the person, not off maybe, so it means doing what a mayber does. The continuous form is the point: maybering never has a past tense that finishes.
NoteEnglish has hesitating, dithering and wavering, all of which sound like faults. Maybering sounds like a hobby. That is the honest part: the maybe state has its comforts, every option still open and nobody let down yet, and the word admits it.
A person permanently in the maybe.
Actively dwelling in the maybe state.
May or may not bring something.
